Special Education Teacher

Position:  Special Education Teacher, full time, exempt

 

What you will do…

The Special Education Teacher provides direct services to scholars, consults with other

professionals, discusses progress with parents, plans, delivers and evaluates instructional

outcomes, and provides instruction in a classroom through an inclusion model and/or

small group pull-out.  Specifically, our SPED team:

 

  • Collaborates with general education classroom teacher to modify curriculum to reach all learners
  • Monitors and support implementation of goals and objectives in general education classrooms
  • Provides and/or support modifications and accommodations as needed in general education classrooms
  • Participates in IEP meetings and provides necessary documentation
  • Encourages parent partnerships and maintain timely positive communication with families regarding student progress
  • Maintains all required paperwork to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Models the excellence we expect from our scholars.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What you should have…

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Wisconsin special education certification
  • Absolute belief in every child’s ability to succeed and tenacity to ensure that success
  • Successful Special Education teaching experience in an urban environment preferred
  • Additional, ongoing professional development preferred
